Francisco Rocafuerte

Francisco Rocafuerte, a native of Mexico, has used his travels and studies in Canada, England, and France as the turning point in his journey to interpretive learning.  As a consummate pianist, Francisco interprets many musical styles.  His talent and studies have allowed him to perform as a concert soloist under important conductors’ batons, as a recital performer of great depth, and as a partner with international musicians in chamber music.  He has also performed  as orchestral pianist in works such as Stravinsky’s “Petroushka”,  as couch and pianist of Mexico’s National Opera and as conductor of the orchestra, where he displayed his great knowledge of orchestras.
The musical impulse that moves Francisco is more evident in his amazing and generous repertory.  He has developed his own resounding style, using the works of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven Liszt and Bartok as his cornerstones.  Rocafuerte also uses the music of Ponce, Chavez, Copland and Gershwin.
His impeccable credentials have allowed him to build an interpretative horizon that allows him to approach the great scores of the romantic periods, and to record the works of Ponce, Villanueva and Carrasco.  He has explored, as interpreter, the popular spheres in the “Camerata Punta del Este”.  And, so, names such as Guadalupe Hernandez Willy Peitzner (in the music faculty, Xalapa, Mexico), Edison Quintana (Ollin Yoliztli School, Mexico) Vladimir Azkehanzy and  Georgy Sandor assume the most important influences on his piano studies.  The name of Francisco Rocafuerte is, in his own right, a respected pianist with a background of multiple prizes in different piano competitions, and his frequent concerts in Mexico, the United States of America, Canada and France (Second Grand Prix, International Piano Competition, Paris ).  Rocafuerte keeps his musical activity extremely fluent.  He performs over fifty concerts a year. He has performed recitals and given master classes at Austin’s Chamber Music Center and in Germany, France, Holland, Canada and Latin America.   He served as a faculty member of the University of Texas.  He serves as the Rio Grande Foundation for the Performing Arts’ Vice President and Artistic Director.
Francisco  Rocafuerte also had the honor and privilege of playing a private piano recital for Pope John Paul II during his second visit to Mexico. He has recorded 6 CD’s (El Piano Mexicano, J.S. Bach: Goldberg Variations, and Piano Recital, Music from XIX Century (3 CD’s).  He has a Professional Piano Studio in McAllen, TX.  He counts many multiple award-winners among his former students.
